Choosing the right PFD for your child
The US Coast Guard has set standards for PFD's and rated them from Type I to Type V. Since it is recommended that children be fitted in a Type II or Type III PFD (Personal Floatation Device) We will explore the differences between the two.
Type
II PFD's, or near-shore buoyancy vests, are for calm and open water where a rescue will occur quickly.
They are not designed for long periods in rough water. These vests will turn some, but not all, unconscious wearers face-up in the water. Type II PFD's are designed with extra flotation on the back and behind the head. Where young infants lack agility and precise movements, it is recommended that they be fitted into a Type II PFD.
Type III P
FD's, are for calm and open water where a rescue will likely occur quickly.
These PFD's are designed to keep the wearer in a vertical position. It is the wearer's responsibility to maneuver themselves into a face-up position, usually accomplished by tilting their head back. Type III are typically used for activities such as canoeing or kayaking with children offering more freedom of movement.
Proper Care: UV rays deteriorate and breakdown the Nylon fibers on a PFD therefore it is important to keep them out of the sun when not in use. If wet, lay them to dry in the shade to prevent mold growth. You can hand wash them with a cloth, warm water and mild laundry soap if needed. This jacket is designed for all-day comfort, with a deep cut neck line and open armholes in a short-waisted design for the active child great for recreational boating in flat water। Equipped with crotch strap to prevent the PFD from riding up over a child's face.
Comparing styles and uses of PFD's (Life Jackets)
Extrasport Type II, Infant and Youth PFD: Under the head padding design encourages chest-up floatation. Segmented collar with grab loop makes it easy to grab hold of and the reflective tape makes them easily seen, A croch strap prevents the PFD from ridding up over a child’s face. Activities: Canoeing, Motorized Boating, Recreational Kayaking.
Infants: up to 50lbs, Youth: 50-90lbs
Extrasport Volks Child Type III PFD features a deep cut neckline and wide-open armholes and a short cut torso making it easy to move along with all day comfort. It is designed to keep the wearer in a vertical position, it may require the wearer to tilt their head back to avoid going face-down in the water. Activities: Canoeing, Recreational Kayaking, Motorized boating. Kids': 30-50lbs

Many adults will say one of the most memorable parts of their childhood was the family’s camping trips. Camping is near and dear to a lot of peoples’ hearts whether the sleep out took place in the backyard or involved a more in depth planning and execution process. It makes sense that as those children grew up and had families of their own that they would want to continue the family tradition and take their children on camping trips as well. To make this dream a reality, the most important piece of equipment is the family camping tents. These tents have evolved over the years into virtual paradises of home like comfort. You can find family camping tents in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors.
Almost any version can be found to accommodate the family’s size and needs. Family camping tents are better made than ever with the advancement of technology, and are constructed of the most durable and weatherproof materials. While it may not be the optimal experience to camp in inclement weather, with these tents it doesn’t have to be the worst thing ever either. While deciding on the perfect tent for your family there is a certain criteria to keep in mind. Before style even becomes a consideration, it is important to find a well made family camping tent. When you find a tent that you really like, check online message boards for honest reactions to the products performance. There are several websites available that are designed to provide consumer opinions. Then visit the local sporting goods store to take a look at the tent up close and personal. You will want to pay careful attention to the zippers, fastenings, and how easy or difficult the tent is to put up. Be sure to also look into the type of material used and the quality of the poles and attachments.
A good family camping tent should be made to last a long time and hold up to the rigors of the great outdoors. Once you have found several family camping tents you like, then you can narrow down your selection according to your personal preferences. Some family camping tents are a large one room design, while others have a tunnel between two “rooms” that children find a lot of fun. Also consider the size and space available in the vehicle that will be used for camping trips. Many models are made to be compact and space saving for smaller vans and cars. Family camping trips are worthwhile. Be sure to be properly prepared with one of the high quality family camping tents available for a more enjoyable vacation.

Our family recently went camping at Eleven Mile Reservoir near Hartsel, Colorado. This is a beautiful place that offers camping, great fishing, and lots and lots of climbing. The South Platte River runs through the reservoir and has spectacular views.
Our eight year old daughter, Austen, spent hours strolling up and down the grassy banks with her ZEBCO pole. Casting over and over, she patiently awaited the tug on the end of her line. She had the patience and concentration of a pro! A glow on her face from the sunshine beaming down from the bluest sky anywhere. Her six year old sister, Alyssa, is a natural scrambler. Her boundless energy is only magnified by the outdoors. She was all too ready to try out her new climbing shoes. After slipping into the harness and putting on her rockin' new MAD ROCK shoes recently purchased from you....she was off. Like Spiderman, she gracefully scurried up to the top. I was told her first words when she arrived were, "My new shoes worked great!!"
Our two days were incredible. The awe inspiring scenery, the endless sunshine, the fishing, the climbing, the campfire, the snuggling in the tent was just what our family needed! We left refreshed, and best of all....reconnected. And of course, with SMILES!
Thank you for your part in our adventure. Alyssa's climbing shoes were perfect. Your easy process, fair prices, and super fast shipping were greatly appreciated. I look forward to ordering more gear from you in the near future!!
Thanks again from our family to yours!
Sincerely,
Rebekah McGlamery
